Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Major, BMV 1068 II. Air on G String - Bach

This song is one I can't fully put into words. Upon searching all the different performances of it online, I stumbled upon this one. I remember around this time last year, I had traveled to San Francisco by myself and gotten sick. I was randomly listening to Rooster's debut album as i was dying in bed and he has a song called Rented Starship. Immediately after i heard the first few notes of the intro, i kept wanting to find the classical song it reminded me of. It's just the opening note. I don't know how i found it, but i found Air on G string the next day and I listened to both of them multiple times on the way back home to LA. I was also listening to DIAMONDZR4EVER on repeat while i was taking public transporation and exploring the city. It was really fun. It was so weird lol . Anyways today I want to talk about Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Major Air on G String by father of music, Johann Sebastian Bach. It's so good. I recently watched Hyouka and it tickled me how they kept repeating this song randomly throughout the series, for the Chitanda and Oreki scenes. After finishing the last episode (writing a review on this too on MyAnimeList soon!!) I was thinking about it and how unexpectedly romantic it truly was. Then I wondered back into why the creators wanted to use Air on G String so much. It got me thinking, was it just out of romantic vibes? Was it to portray spring? Does it signify some sort of opening, perhaps like an opening of a closed heart, start of a new beginning, or maybe it's a lot simpler like it's just a hopeful and tranquil background instrumental. Who knows. I'd like to think of it as [W.I.P. - still editing]

DOGGY - ElyOtto

I don't like cussing but this song makes me want to cuss!!!!!!!!! I want to start this post off with a "[F********* bomb] SICKKKK ASS SONG WOWWWWWWWWW HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE???," to be quite honest with you. Wanna shout from the rooftops to be quite frank. ElyOtto is talking their talk in this one for reals. I hear it. I see you and I hear you ElyOtto. I support it so much it's insane. First of all, the energy is so incredibly angry in the best way possible. My favorite elements in a song in general are 1) Energy + 2) Melody. And I've always said this. It's pretty spot on with this song. The synth + beat combo is so hype and really intense build up. It feels like so much but I understand it so much too. The vocal delivery is so impactful and frustrated and hurt and tired and ready to break free finally. Also, the choice to put in that interesting flute sound really takes me away to this meadow over yonder in like scotland or something. It was oddly peaceful and happy, contrast with the lyrics and overall tone of song. So it was surprising and pleasant and made it more interesting. Maybe it's pointing to freedom of some sort. The flute kind of reminds me of Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings type scenery. Lyrically what really stood out to me were phrases like "cog in the machine" and "beneficial to the brand," in addition to the sense of "thought you gave a fuck about me" "i would tell you how it feels but you would never understand" TYPE SH!!!!!!!!!! Yes. Yes. Yes. To me this is an awakening, finally having identified the problem and wanting to break free from the "relationship" which in this case seems to be a label(?) and finally deciding you deserve better. Even the [FREE DOWNLOAD] in the Soundcloud title makes me giggle. It feels so rebellious in the sense that you're like "FU corporate and FU music industry i'm literally just gonna make this song and put it out as free download" LIKE LITERALLY. LMAO. I love it so much.

xXXi_wud_nvrstøp_ÜXXx - 100 gecs

Intro is dark DRAMA. Blurry. The distorted vocals coming from somewhere deeply buried underneath. From the get-go you can tell it's going to epic. A barrier between you and the voice (LAURA LES). But it's drawing near. Then it's suddenly RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. Hi. This song is probably inspired by a lot of different things. They sing quite the nostalgic melody. Personally i think something like the tones of S3RL and sparkliness of popular Eurodance played at the rollerskating rink when i was a child, but also melodically quite the spitting image of Soulja Boy's Kiss Me Thru the Phone straight from 2008. This song is so silly. But also emotional?? The beat drops but it makes ur eardrums bleed. Squashed like a pumpkin. I love the belting vocals (DYLAN BRADY). Good contrast after the ghostly vocals. Btw vocals are absolutely obliterated. Glitching all over. The vocals sputter Like a broken AI robot. Like u just poured water over electricity accidentally and ur like Oh shoot... and then the contraption catches on fire. This part sort of makes me cry tho, around 1:39. The voice breaking in on itself is so heartbreaking. WHY??? You'd think the bionic nature of the song deletes the humanity. But it's still so raw and real, somehow. It captures insanity. Ur quite literally going crazy, deteriorating kinda like a malfunctioning machine. Like yup, that's what u do to me. TYPE SHI!!! So good. Sooo romantic!! Some words that come to mind: furry rave obsession neon blue nightcore ballad yearning love humanoid crazy frog axel f s3rl gulping helicopter it's out with the old in with the new goodbye clouds of gray hello skies of blue It's the amalgamation of the digital music + our generation that grew up with all the weirdness that comes with the Internet. If this song doesn't perfectly represent the early 2000s, but satirized through a 2019ish lens, idk what does. Everything i love about gecs. What song should i review next? we shall see soon ;)

cowgirl - david shawty

Hei this is a really good song. very impressive. it feels like summertime. I like the way David sings on this one, it's very effortless yet still authentic re:emotion. I like how simple the premise is, but it's still unique. Need a cowgirl to riiiide with me! Like of course. We all know that feeling somehow, no matter who u are. You wouldn't think so, but it's quite universal, this song. I love the vibe. It's simple yet so real. The actual(?) acoustic guitar with the digital beat was something cool. I see the vision. This song paints a picture. I love wen songs do that. The music video is also well made. It's an good depiction of the song. If u want a good visual extension i say watch it, cuz it adds to it for sure. Some key words i found: sunset need moonlight horse sunrise night pretty demons make my head hurt I also think the riff is reminiscent of blink-182's Adam's Song. Though the content of the lyrics is totally different of course. I love the background vocal harmonization. It feels like an ancient yodel in some way. The execution of this song is exquisite in every way, i would not have this song any other way. Next song i will write about will be.... who knows we'll see! ;)
